Art Afternoon

This is the first exhibition we’ve visited together that isn’t photography. The work is abstract so there will not be anything recognisable to tell us what we’re looking at or what it is “about”.

So rather than trying to work it out, I’d like us to simply spend some time experiencing the work. Notice what catches your eye. Look at the materials, the textures, the shapes, the light, the spaces. See if anything reminds you of something, evokes a feeling or creates a reaction in you.

I’m particularly interested in how we each respond to abstract art. Do you connect with it? Do you find yourself wanting to understand it? Does it make you curious, uncomfortable, bored, excited?

There’s no right or wrong response, and you don’t need to know anything about abstract art to have one. Try not to think about it too much, let yourself have your response and notice what it is.

So at first, just keep one question in mind:
