Moorish Morocco Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Casablanca – Arrival
Friday 24 April
We’ll meet you at the airport and transfer you to our hotel to settle in and rest. In the evening, we’ll have a quiet dinner included at Le Fleur.

Day 2 – Casablanca
Saturday 25 April
After a brief introduction in the morning, you’ll visit key historical sites of Casablanca, including the Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square, and the Centre Ville. Back at the hotel with lunch included at the Marche Central, we’ll hold our first pattern drawing workshop, exploring patterns from the mosque and the market.

Day 3 – Casablanca to Fez
Sunday 26 April
After breakfast, we travel to Fez, stopping in Meknes for a tour of El Hedim Square and the Bou Inania Madrasa. We’ll arrive in Fez in the late afternoon and settle into our hotel.

Day 4 – Fez
Monday 27 April
Fez, considered the religious and cultural heart of Morocco, boasts a UNESCO World Heritage–listed Old City (Fez el-Bali), the oldest functioning medieval Islamic city in the world. We’ll take a guided tour of the medina, exploring its rich history and collecting visual references for our workshops.

Day 5 – Fez
Tuesday 28 April
We’ll continue our pattern drawing workshops, focusing on zellij patterns from the Attarine and Bou Inania madrasas. You’ll have a free afternoon and evening to rest, work on your drawings, or explore more of the Medina.

Day 6 – Fez
Wednesday 29 April
In the morning, we’ll visit a pottery workshop where you can create your own zellij. In the afternoon, then we’ll have another pattern drawing workshop at the hotel. We’ll finish the day with a celebratory meal marking the end of our time in this city.

Day 7 – Fez to Volubilis to Chefchaouen
Thursday 30 April
We depart Fez early to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, followed by a special lunch included at Scorpion House in the nearby village of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. We arrive in Chefchaouen in the afternoon and settle into our hotel.

Day 8 – Chefchaouen
Friday 1 May – Public Holiday
Soak in the slower pace after Fez with a walking tour of this famously blue-washed town. We’ll enjoy the Friday tradition of a couscous lunch in the medina included. The afternoon is free to explore, rest, or enjoy the town at your leisure.

Day 9 – Chefchaouen
Saturday 2 May
This morning we will have another pattern drawing workshop, focusing on tazouaqt—the traditional painting on cedar wood—and the arabesque flourishes used in this style. Afterwards there is an Optional activity: A Moroccan cooking class overlooking the city, or you may choose to have dinner in the Medina.

Day 10 – Chefchaouen
Sunday 3 May
Our final day in Chefchaouen will include a workshop with a local artisan, painting on cedar wood and bringing together the elements explored the previous day.

Day 11 – Chefchaouen to Tetouan (approx. 1.5 hrs)
Monday 4 May
We travel to Tetouan, exploring the old medina and the Spanish-influenced newer area, including a visit to the National Art School and the Centre for Contemporary Art. After settling in at our hotel, we’ll have a pattern drawing workshop.

Day 12 – Tetouan
Tuesday 5 May
In the morning, we’ll take an artisans tour of Tetouan, highlighting the city’s craft traditions. The afternoon continues with another pattern drawing workshop.

Day 13 – Tetouan to Tangier
Wednesday 6 May
We take a short drive to Tangier, the final stop on our tour—the gateway between Africa and Europe. We’ll take a walking tour of the historic port city, visiting the Kasbah Museum and the Phoenician Tombs with spectacular views over the Medina. After settling into our hotel, we’ll watch sunset at Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.

Day 14 – Tangier
Thursday 7 May
We’ll hold a morning pattern drawing workshop, exploring borders and other embellishment patterns. The afternoon offers an Optional activity: Hamman and spa experience, or free time to relax, explore the city, or shop.

Day 15 – Tangier – Final Day
Friday 8 May
We’ll take a morning walk around the Medina and spend our final afternoon sharing and reflecting on your drawings and experiences. The tour concludes with a celebratory farewell dinner.
