Moorish Morocco Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Casablanca – Arrival
Friday 24 April
We’ll meet you at the airport and transfer you to our hotel so you can settle in and rest, ready for the adventure ahead. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a quiet welcome dinner at Le Fleur (included).
Day 2 – Casablanca
Saturday 25 April
After a brief introduction in the morning, you’ll visit key historical sites of Casablanca, including the Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square, and the Centre Ville. Lunch at the Marché Central is included. Back at the hotel, we’ll hold our first pattern drawing workshop, exploring a typically Moroccan design inspired by the mosque and the market. We will have dinner together at the vibrant Dar Dada.
Day 3 – Casablanca to Fez
Sunday 26 April
After breakfast, we travel to Fez, stopping in Meknes for a tour of El Hedim Square and the Bou Inania Madrasa. We’ll arrive in Fez in the late afternoon, settle into our hotel, and finish the day with dinner at Café Clock accompanied by live Issawa music.
Day 4 – Fez
Monday 27 April
Fez, the religious and cultural heart of Morocco, boasts a UNESCO World Heritage–listed Old City, the oldest functioning medieval Islamic city in the world. We’ll take a guided tour of the medina, visiting iconic madrasas and neighbourhoods where artisans continue to ply their trades—from woodworkers to copper beaters and more. Along the way, we’ll collect visual references and inspiration for our workshops.
Day 5 – Fez
Tuesday 28 April
Today we return to our pattern drawing workshops, focusing on zellige patterns inspired by our explorations of the city. The afternoon and evening are free for you to rest, work on your drawings, or explore more of the medina.
Day 6 – Fez
Wednesday 29 April
In the morning, we’ll visit a pottery workshop where you can try your hand at creating your own zellige tile. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for another drawing workshop at the hotel. The day concludes with a celebratory meal marking the end of our time in Fez.
Day 7 – Fez to Volubilis to Chefchaouen
Thursday 30 April
We depart Fez early to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, followed by a very special included lunch at Scorpion House in the nearby village of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. We’ll arrive in Chefchaouen in the afternoon and settle into our hotel.
Day 8 – Chefchaouen
Friday 1 May – Public Holiday
Soak in the slower pace after Fez with a walking tour of this famously blue-washed town. We’ll enjoy the Friday tradition of couscous lunch in the medina (included). The afternoon is free to explore, rest, or wander at your leisure.
Day 9 – Chefchaouen
Saturday 2 May
In the morning, we’ll have a workshop on tazouaqt—the traditional painted decoration on cedar wood—and the arabesque flourishes often used in this style. Optional activity: a Moroccan cooking class overlooking the city, or you may choose to have dinner in the medina.
Day 10 – Chefchaouen
Sunday 3 May
Our final day in Chefchaouen will include a workshop with a local artisan, painting on cedar wood and bringing together the elements explored the previous day.
Day 11 – Chefchaouen to Tetouan
Monday 4 May
We travel to Tetouan, exploring its old medina and the Spanish-influenced newer area, including visits to the National Art School and the Centre for Contemporary Art for a taste of the contemporary art scene. After settling into our hotel, we’ll hold an afternoon drawing workshop, continuing to explore arabesque forms, with a focus on plaster carvings.
Day 12 – Tetouan
Tuesday 5 May
In the morning, we’ll take an artisan tour of Tetouan, visiting some of the city’s finest craftspeople in their workshops. See leather, wood, metals, wool, plaster, and tiles transformed into beautifully handcrafted objects. In the afternoon, we’ll continue with another workshop, this time focusing on the arch—exploring proportions commonly found in Moroccan design.
Day 13 – Tetouan to Tangier
Wednesday 6 May
We take a short drive to Tangier, the final stop on our tour—the gateway between Africa and Europe. A walking tour of the historic port city includes the Kasbah Museum and the Phoenician Tombs, with spectacular views over the medina. After settling into our hotel, we’ll watch the sunset at Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean.
Day 14 – Tangier
Thursday 7 May
In the morning, we’ll hold a workshop focusing on borders and embellishment patterns. The afternoon offers an optional hammam and spa experience, or free time to relax, shop, or explore the city.
Day 15 – Tangier – Final Day
Friday 8 May
We’ll take a final morning walk around the medina and spend the afternoon sharing and reflecting on your drawings and experiences. The tour concludes with a celebratory farewell dinner.
